Colorado Springs has five major roads and Highways running from North to South:
Interstate 25 major highway running across the state
Nevada Ave - Downtown Colorado Springs
Academy Boulevard - Major Boulvard with shopping and entertainement
Powers Boulevard - Shopping, housing and entertainment
Marksheffel Boulevard - housing and upcoming shopping developement
West to East:
Highway 24 - runs the state through Florissant, CO to Woodland Park, to Manitour Springs, to Old Colorado City to Downtown Colorado Springs to Academy Blvd.
Academy Blvd to Falcon, CO, Peyton, CO to Calhan, CO to Ramah, CO to Limon Co ending at HWY 70 which leads to the Kanasa border.
Best Time to Visit
Colorado boast 360 days of sunshine per year, but the best times to visit are May through September with January being the coldest month on average. Be sure to keep a sweater with you as temperatures can be cooler in the evening. In the winter have a warm jacket and gloves. Weather Atlas
Must See Attractions
Top places to visit on a short trip are Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Pikes Peak Highwy and Helen Hunt Falls. Staying a little longer visity the Airplane restaurant, Air Force Academy, Pikes Peak COG Railway and Manitou Springs.
Money Saving Tips
Many attract ions are free: Garden of the Gods, Helen Hunt Falls, They Money Museum, Painted Rocks. Many museums offer free admission on certain days so check their websites. There are four military installations in the Colorado Springs area so be sure to ask if the venue or restaurant offers a military disount.
